Aberdeen is Scotland's third City and is known for the fantastic flowers planted
throughout. It's known as the Oil Capital of Europe and the Granite City - Aberdeen
wears its titles with pride. Aberdeen has one of Scotland’s most stunning
skylines. and is a typically northern city, whose granite sparkles after the
rain.
Around 200,000 people live in Aberdeen, a city that gained its Royal Charter
in 1179. (This means that Aberdeen is a Royal borough). There is an International
Airport at Dyce, a railway station in the heart of the City with a national
bus station adjacent to it (they are both on Guild Street next to the harbour).
The
harbour still lands fish, as well as having one of the most modern ports to service
the Oil Industry. The Tourist
Information Centre is on Broad Street, off the
beginning of the eastern end of Union Street. |

There are a number of shopping centres
in the city. The Bon-Accord Centre is the largest and is

here, including Boots, Woolworths, and John Lewis. Other
shopping centres are The St
Nicholas Centre and the Trinity
Centre, The Academy
Shopping Centre on Belmont Street/Schoolhill
and the Galleria Shopping Centre on Bon Accord Street with
some more exclusive shops.
